1) Scope & What This Policy Covers

This Policy covers ChatMate’s treatment of information that identifies or relates to you (“Personal Information”).

  • Third-party services you connect to (e.g., payments, analytics, social media).
  • Individuals or entities ChatMate does not own or control.

Where our Service integrates with third-party platforms, their privacy policies apply.

2) Who We Are (Controller / Processor Roles)

  • Controller: In most cases, ChatMate decides why and how Personal Information is processed.
  • Processor: In limited cases (e.g., content you upload), we act as a processor per your instructions.

Legal bases for processing include consent, contractual necessity, legal obligations, and legitimate interests (security, fraud prevention, improvement).

3) The Service

ChatMate helps people connect through:

  • Instant 1-on-1 chats (random matching)
  • Profiles, friends, and messaging
  • Optional group chats and calls
  • Moderation and reporting tools
  • Optional paid features (e.g., filters, premium access)

4) Information We Collect

A. Account & Profile Data

  • Identifiers: username, display name, email, password (hashed).
  • Profile details: bio, interests, age range, pronouns, avatars/photos.
  • Age gate: may request date of birth or attestation.

B. Contacts (Optional)

If you import contacts or invite friends, we may process limited contact data solely to facilitate invitations. You can revoke access anytime.

C. Content & Activity

  • User content: messages, images, posts, reports, feedback.
  • Usage data: sessions, actions, timestamps, referral URLs.

D. Device & Technical Data

  • Device info: IP, device type, OS, browser, provider, app version.
  • Log data: access times, diagnostics, crash logs, performance metrics.

E. Communications

Support messages, moderation correspondence, and appeals.

F. Payment & Subscription Data

Premium payments are processed by third-party providers. We receive transaction metadata but not full card numbers.
